We have two fantastic opportunities for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our award-winning team at Kielder Waterside as Commis Chefs. This is your chance to become part of a dynamic team that creates memorable, “wow” experiences for every guest. Whether they’re visiting for the day or staying with us longer.

As a Commis Chef, you’ll support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering exceptional food and beverage services. Your role will involve everything from assisting with menu development and food preparation to maintaining cleanliness, handling kitchen operations, supporting point of sale, managing stock, and even cashing up when needed. Every task you take on will help ensure that our guests enjoy fresh, high-quality meals in a welcoming environment.

You’ll also help deliver services in line with our schedules and standards, and play a part in upholding the highest levels of food hygiene and regulatory compliance by actively monitoring and reporting on key checks.

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, professionalism, and a genuine passion for Kielder. You’ll be a strong communicator, a creative thinker, and a detail-oriented team player who’s eager to learn and grow. For added convenience, on-site accommodation may be available during shift patterns.

About you

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, someone who’s self-motivated, creative, and takes pride in delivering outstanding service with a sharp eye for detail.

This is a hands-on role so you will be highly organised and hardworking and ready to embrace the flexibility needed to work weekends, late nights, bank holidays, and other unsociable hours as part of the leisure and hospitality industry.

Given the nature of the role in our food and beverage team, you’ll need an NVQ qualification in a relevant discipline, such as food and beverage services, hospitality, or customer service. Naturally, strong cooking skills and confidence in preparing a variety of meals are essential.

We’re also looking for someone with a Level 2 Food Safety qualification, excellent culinary ability, and a solid understanding of food and beverage products. A good awareness of key nutritional considerations is important too, as we strive to offer both quality and care in every dish we serve.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
