This part‑time SEN Teaching Assistant role in a primary school could be the ideal opportunity to put your knowledge into practice.
We are seeking a nurturing, patient, and committed individual to join a warm and inclusive primary setting, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), learning difficulties, and trauma‑related challenges.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll help create a safe, calm, and supportive environment where young children feel understood and ready to learn. Your day‑to‑day role may include:
- 1:1 or small‑group support to pupils with additional needs
- Helping children regulate their emotions and develop positive coping strategies
- Supporting children who may have experienced emotional or physical trauma
- Assisting the class teacher to adapt lessons to meet individual needs
- Encouraging communication, confidence, and social interaction
- Offering reassurance and consistent emotional support throughout the school day
We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:
- A graduate or student of childcare, psychology, mental health, emotional abuse, counselling, or a related field
- Empathetic and calm, especially when supporting children with SEMH needs
- Passionate about helping young children feel safe, supported, and valued
- A patient communicator who can build trust with vulnerable pupils
- Reliable, flexible, and happy to work part time around personal commitments
