Job Description
Senior Transport Planner
Location: Central London
Salary: £43,000-£55,000 (DOE)
Type: Full-time, Hybrid Working (2:3 or 3:2)
A highly respected, independent UK transport planning and development planning consultancy is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join their expanding London team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid experience in transport planning, transport assessments, travel plans, and junction modelling (ARCADY/PICADY/Junctions 9/10/11) who is ready to take more ownership, lead smaller projects, and mentor junior staff.
This consultancy works extensively across large-scale residential, mixed-use and strategic land development, with variation in project type, scope and complexity. They combine technical strength, genuine flexibility, and a sociable culture where people are rewarded for their contribution.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Transport Planner, you will:
- Act as technical project manager on smaller development planning schemes
- Produce Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and EIA Transport Chapters
- Carry out junction capacity modelling using Junctions 9/10/11 (ARCADY/PICADY)
- Delegate, mentor and support junior Transport Planners
- Build client relationships, ensuring repeat business and excellent communication
- Contribute to commercial activity, including bidding and fee proposals
- Work closely with internal planning, engineering and environmental teams
What We're Looking For - Experience in transport planning within a consultancy environment
- Strong understanding of development planning deliverables
- Proficiency in ARCADY, PICADY, and junction modelling tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to take ownership of smaller projects and progress into senior leadership pathways
