Technical Lead Engineer – Remote (with 1 day/month in-office) – Up to £130,000 + Bonus & Benefits
A fast-growing SaaS product company with a global presence, serving thousands of customers and users across the UK, Canada, Australia, and other regions. The platform is trusted worldwide, and the company is heavily investing in building the next generation of its product suite.
The Role
We’re looking for a Technical Lead or Hands-on Engineering Manager to join and lead the UK engineering team.
This is a hybrid role that blends leadership, people management, and deep technical contribution. You’ll play a central role in building new products and features on a modern codebase, shaping product direction, and contributing to both architecture and hands-on development.
We\’re particularly interested in candidates who thrive in fast paced, startup style product environments, where ownership, agility, and impact matter.
Being technically strong is essential: you’ll be expected to write production-grade code, drive architectural decisions, and define technical direction, while also mentoring and scaling a talented engineering team.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and grow a small UK-based engineering team (currently 5 engineers)
- Balance hands-on development and architectural leadership with management responsibilities
- Drive the development of new features and greenfield products using .NET 8/9, React, Azure, and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, Product, customers, and global teams (including a team in Bulgaria)
- Own and influence technical design, architecture, and best practices
- Support and develop engineers through mentoring and technical guidance
- Balance legacy system understanding with innovation in new platforms
- Work closely with stakeholders across engineering, product, and leadership
- Frontend: React, Typescript
- DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Azure-based infrastructure
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager in startup or scale-up environments
- Demonstrated success leading and growing engineering teams in a fast-paced startup setting
- Strong hands-on experience with .NET and modern web technologies
- Solid background in managing, mentoring, and developing engineers
- Strong architecture and system design skills
- Product-focused,ability to build and scale customer-facing software in an iterative, impact-driven way
- A product mindset – understands user needs, business goals, and long-term scalability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Bonus : Experience working with global teams and in acquisition/integration scenarios
- Bonus: Experience working on a SaaS product
Team Setup
- UK Engineering Team: 5 engineers (plus a team of contractors), with plans to grow
- Bulgaria Team: 7 engineers (focused on legacy product support)
- DevOps: Small, cross-functional team supporting all projects
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive base salary: up to ÂŁ130,000
- Bonus 10-15%
