What is the role?
The purpose of the role is to ensure that health, safety, and environment (HS&E) standards are met throughout the company.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and enforce HS&E plans across the region to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Identify, risk assess, and report hazards and non-compliance issues during site visits, working with site management to ensure corrective actions are taken and escalated where necessary.
- Produce management reports on non-compliance figures, hazards, and escalations to support a safety-first approach.
- Regularly inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with HS&E policies and legislation, including out-of-hours inspections.
- Conduct incident investigations and report incidents to HSE under RIDDOR regulations.
- Monitor contractor performance against Risk Assessments and Method Statements to minimize HS&E risks.
- Communicate effectively with regulatory agencies such as HSE, Local Authorities, and Environment Agency.
- Provide HS&E advice, training, and conduct regular meetings to ensure standards are maintained.
- Manage safety concerns line referrals and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Develop strong working relationships to promote a safe working environment.
Entry requirements
- Excellent organizational skills to manage time and meet targets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to build relationships across all levels of the business.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of workplace HS&E hazards.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Health and Safety.
Membership of IOSH is desirable but not essential.
