Overview

We are excited to invite expressions of interest for a secondment opportunity within our brand-new Smoking Cessation Service in Newcastle. We\’re seeking a motivated and organised Project Manager to lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of the service. This role is ideal for someone with experience in project management, a sound understanding of smoking cessation and public health, and a desire to drive positive change.

You\’ll work closely with colleagues across the organisation and local partners, using your leadership and communication skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams. You\’ll also bring strong analytical abilities to monitor outcomes, inform service improvement, and produce clear, insightful reporting. Confidence in managing budgets, timelines, and resources is essential, as is a commitment to upholding safeguarding, equality, and data protection standards.

Full time Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Full Time Salary Range: £39,891.91 – £44,471.72 Dependent on experience (Based on full time hours, pro rata for part time)

Contract: 6 month internal secondment

*Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As Project Manager in the Stop Smoking Service, you will be expected to:

  • Promote the benefits of stopping smoking and raise awareness of the service through events, outreach, and engagement activities
  • Lead a specialist team delivering brief advice and smoking cessation interventions across Newcastle.
  • Oversee and contribute to the NRT Direct Supply process to ensure prompt and effective delivery of medications to clients
  • Lead on specific workstreams to ensure services are tailored to meet the needs of targeted population groups
  • Build strong relationships with professionals and the community to increase understanding of smoking-related health impacts and encourage referrals
  • Ensure accurate recording of community engagement and interventions using digital record management systems
  • Stay informed on relevant policy developments in smoking cessation and apply them to service delivery
  • Provide support and mentor students and apprentices, ensuring meaningful learning opportunities are in place
  • Support, observe, and shadow new staff members during their induction period.
  • Monitor, record and ensure the service performance targets are met.
  • Deliver training to new administrative staff and provide refresher sessions for existing team members
  • Ensure effective monitoring of service activity through the Quit Manager system, supporting colleagues and partners in its use
  • Provide line management, supervision, and appraisals to staff within your team
  • Undertake any other duties that support the successful delivery of project goals, as directed by your line manager

About You

  • You understand the health risks of smoking and are familiar with national smoking cessation policies and strategies
  • You have experience delivering health and/or social care interventions, ideally within a stop smoking service
  • You can plan, manage, and deliver effective service models tailored to local needs
  • You understand how clients access smoking cessation treatments and interventions
  • You have experience leading teams, including providing line management, supervision, and appraisals
  • You are committed to delivering high-quality services with a focus on risk management and continuous improvement
  • You maintain accurate records and are confident using Microsoft Office and electronic record systems
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • You can work independently and as part of a team, remaining calm and flexible under pressure
  • You build strong relationships with stakeholders and professionals
  • You are committed to equality, diversity, and continuous professional development
  • You stay up to date with local and national developments in smoking cessation

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a Stop Smoking Service
  • NCSCT Level 2 qualification
  • Knowledge of local services and geography
