About the Role
Sitting within Operations, the Financial Crime Team supports both the Newcastle Building Society and our NSSL partners in preventing and detecting our savings and mortgage products from being used for the purposes of Money Laundering, Counter Terrorist Financing and Fraud.

The Financial Crime Unit provides support toNewcastle Strategic Solutions clients and Newcastle Building Societyto manage their regulatory obligations in relation to Financial Crime. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join the Financial Crime Unit to assist in the prevention of Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Fraud.

As a Financial Crime Coordinator within the team, your role will be to perform risk based financial crime due diligence. This will include:

  • Identifying, investigating and escalating suspicious and high-risk activity.
  • Performing and assisting with customer due diligence.
  • Screening customers against Sanction, Politically Exposed Persons and other High Risk lists.
  • Assisting the authorities with investigation enquiries.

About You

Experience of working within a Financial Crime setting within Financial Services will be advantageous, along with an understanding of the Financial Crime threats both savings and mortgage products may encounter.

You’ll also have experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders within a Financial Crime setting.

You should have the ability to make risk-based decisions and manage a high-volume workload (including alert processing).
