We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join the Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services Ltd estates team to work within our mechanical team in the estates workshop. The workshop provides a maintenance service to Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and external clients. You will need to demonstrate strong team working skills, have good experience of working in a supporting role within maintenance and be comfortable in working to targets and working on your own.
The post-holder will be required to support the building and electrical workshops as required and within the capabilities of their skills.

Main duties of the job
Completing Reactive/Planned and Backlog Maintenance installation work within existing capabilities and qualifications, supporting tradespeople where necessary or carrying out semi-skilled jobs independently.
Undertaking any training that may be required to carry out a wide variety of maintenance tasks.
Being appointed to various Competent Person roles commensurate with your skill, training and experience.
Ensuring that all work is carried out in a manner that complies with all Health and Safety legislation, HTMs and other relevant codes of practise and policies.
Delivering good customer service and able to always act as an ambassador for DSFS.
Using the MICAD & Zetasafe CAFM systems correctly and ensuring jobs are raised and closed off for all work undertaken.
Ensuring that the estates department delivers to its customers a service that is responsive, reliable and meets statutory and mandatory requirements. Our key customers include Chesterfield Royal Hospital and offsite locations such as GP surgeries, community clinics etc.
Working under the direction of the Estates Officers and other managers as required.
Supporting other teams within estates in addition to the post-holder’s permanent team, according to the needs of the business.
Acting in such a manner as to always maintain and protect confidentiality.
Supervision of apprentices as required.

Qualifications & Training
- Vocational Level 2 qualification (or circa 2 years of experience working on the tools in a relevant role).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Previous experience carrying out work in a construction environment.
Experience
- Experience of assisting tradespeople to carry out maintenance and installation work.
- Experience of carrying out minor maintenance tasks without supervision.
- Experience of using a variety of hand and power tools accurately and safely.
- Experience of using Computer Aided Facilities Management software to manage and complete jobs.
Skills & Knowledge
- Able to quickly learn new skills.
- Good hand/eye co-ordination.
- Able to source information to understand how to correctly install materials and carry out installation work.
