What we\’re looking for…

AG Barr is growing and we\’ve got an amazing opportunity for a Business Performance Accountant to join our Finance team.

The Business Performance Accountant is a key role within the AG Barr Commercial Finance team. The successful candidate will have responsibilities across a number of financial processes and face into the business by providing financial support to the functional business units. The role holder must have the ability to \”do the detail\” but also raise it up and engage with stakeholders across the business.

The role therefore requires an individual who is both technically competent but also has the requisite commercial acumen to be able to drive performance improvement in both finance and the wider business.

Your responsibilities will include…

As a Business Performance Accountant your responsibilities will include;

  • Period Close & Reporting: Support the end to end period close and reporting process for areas which fall under responsibility. This will include:
  • Undertaking financial close responsibilities and reviewing the General Ledger to inform and adjust prior to closing the books in accordance with the Group timetable;
  • Analysis and investigation of business unit financial performance versus Budget / Prior Year / Forecast to inform results reporting;
  • Delivering business unit performance insight in business meetings through both written and verbal communication with the purpose of driving remedial action (where required) and improved business decision making.
  • Financial Analysis: Undertake wide ranging analysis to provide decision support and advice to the business. The analysis performed will be across the P&L and Balance sheet and focus on maximising profit delivery for the function. The nature of the analysis will be both recurring (in the form of the period close and reporting process) and ad hoc (either business or finance led).
  • Business Partnering: Partner the teams under areas of responsibility by providing performance reporting and profitability analysis. Go beyond the numbers and support the teams to make decisions which improve financial outcomes for the business.
  • Initiatives: Deliver improvement initiatives across both finance and the business. Initiatives will cover areas such as streamlining reporting to drive process improvement and working with the business functions to identify areas of opportunity to drive improved profitability.
  • Budgeting & Forecast: Prepare monthly forecasting for areas of responsibility (both functional and P&L line), provide a diligent and understandable financial forecast in line with the Group timetable. Support the annual budget process with responsibilities including preparation, presentation writing and reporting updates.
  • Financial Governance and Control: Undertake financial control activities and support the wider business control framework to ensure financial process risks are mitigated. Key areas include balance sheet reconciliations, cost control and external audit requirements.
  • Systems: Build a strong working knowledge of the key systems used by finance (JDE, Hubble, Cognos, TM1, Demantra) to facilitate delivery of role elements above. Work effectively with IT to resolve system issues and deliver system related process improvements which enhance finance performance.

    The successful candidate will have;

    • Recently qualified Accountant or qualified by experience with developed financial analysis skills
    • Management reporting and analysis
    • Financial accounting and reporting
    • Intermediate level of business skills and business planning
    • Intermediate experience using accounting information systems
    • Excellent communication skills, remaining clear and concise
    • Willingness to travel to different sites to engage face to face with stakeholders and understand their business
