An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Supply department, and we are looking for two Supply Trainees to join us at Taylors of Harrogate.
As a Supply Trainee you will have the opportunity to train in and support our Supply team over a 2-year period, including the areas of Tea, Coffee and Packaging Buying, Responsible Sourcing, and Scientific and Regulatory Affairs. You will also support the delivery of Taylors Sourcing Approach (TSA), our unique values-led approach to sourcing high quality tea, coffee and packaging.
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday. We offer the opportunity of flexible/hybrid working, but this would initially include a minimum of 3 – 4 days per week learning from, and collaborating with, your colleagues on-site at our offices in Harrogate. This is a 2-year fixed term trainee role; while a permanent position cannot be guaranteed at the end of the training period, we hope to offer permanent roles to successful trainees upon completion of the training period. We will discuss this with you throughout your traineeship.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Working alongside the tea, coffee and packaging buyers to gain a thorough understanding of all buying activities including the development of sourcing strategies, price negotiation and forecasting, and the effective management of raw material stocks.
- Participating in tea and coffee tastings and in doing so starting to develop a palate for professional tasting.
- Working alongside the Responsible Sourcing team to build an understanding of social and environmental sustainability, responsible procurement practices, third-party certification and our value chain investment scheme.
- Building a good working knowledge of the food safety/legal requirements of the raw materials we source, including the origins and supply chains we source from.
- Developing a thorough understanding of tea and coffee manufacturing processes both within our factory and at origin.
- Supporting the Supply team with the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data, and the writing of reports.
About You

- Highly competent in using MS Office and the ability to use/learn other IT systems/databases.
- An awareness/understanding of the key factors (environmental, political, economic and social) that impact the tea and coffee industry.
You will be confident and able to travel for extended periods of time to tea and coffee producing countries.
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English at grade 4/C or above are essential. We are also looking for candidates who have further qualifications in any subjects, equivalent to 3 A-Levels at grade CCC.
In addition, language skills (preferably Spanish) are desirable.
