Fire Systems Commissioning Engineer

Location: Gillingham (hybrid working available)
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning and handover of fire detection and suppression systems for a variety of commercial and industrial projects. You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with relevant standards and working closely with internal teams to deliver exceptional results.

This role is ideal for someone with deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for doing the job right first time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission addressable, conventional, and gaseous fire systems in line with BS5839-1

  • Configure and test cause and effect scenarios, including integration with graphical interfaces

  • Work with systems such as Advanced, Kentec, Notifier, Siemens, Gent, and EST

  • Lead client handovers, including sign-offs and witness testing

  • Provide documentation, compliance certifications, and post-commissioning support

  • Identify and escalate risks, technical issues, or delays

  • Collaborate with project managers and installation engineers to ensure smooth delivery

What You\’ll Need

  • Minimum 10 years\’ experience commissioning fire detection systems

  • Completed FIA modules 1, 2, 3 (or equivalent updated certifications)

  • Experience with multiple fire alarm manufacturers

  • Confident with system drawings and specifications

  • Excellent fault-finding skills and a proactive, professional approach

  • Solid IT skills, especially in networked systems

  • Strong organisation, attention to detail, and communication ability
