Reporting into the Asia editorial Director, you will be an important member of the McCloskey Steel Raw Materials team, engaging with the EMEA region’s steel trading sector for price discovery, and to explore trends and opportunities, while producing price assessments, analytics and news for daily publication. Ideally you will be located in London but other locations in Europe will be considered for the right candidate.

About the Team:

McCloskey by OPIS provides integrated offerings of market intelligence, price indexes and forecasting. Energy transition relies on a mineral-intensive process, and it is essential to understand the dynamics shaping thermal and metallurgical coal, iron ore, scrap, steel and base metals markets, globally and in key regions across Australia, Africa, India, China, Europe and the Americas.

You Will:

  • Report steel prices on a weekly basis, including prices and premiums for Green Steel, with particular emphasis on the European market.

Launch new steel price assessments, define price specifications, gather market feedback.

Generate news content on the steel sector, with a focus on Green Steel. This will form part of our daily and weekly news deliverables for McCloskey’s Steel and Steel Raw Materials service.

Periodic pieces on topical industry issues ( regulatory/policy developments, geopolitical issues, investment, project pipeline, ESG etc.).

Maintain strong client and industry relationships – ideally bringing these relationships from prior roles. Continually share and source market intelligence.

Engage actively in business development, assisting OPIS’ account managers in the sales process through maintaining sales pipelines and assisting in the sales process.

Be a public face of McCloskey and OPIS in the steel space, via client/stakeholder engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, content marketing.

You have:

  • Experience in the steel or steel raw materials industries and/or markets.

Excellent inter-personal skills, demonstrable impact and influence skills.

Excellent ability to present and to lead public discussions ( moderating panels at conferences)

Exemplary written communication skills

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Ability to work within a team while sometimes operating alone

Ability to manage others while maintaining personal output
