Westmorland and Furness Council’s Highways Service is looking for an organised, hardworking, and methodical candidate to join us as a Policy and Procedures Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Asset Manager in developingpolicies and procedures and managing the highways service online work spaces and document libraries.

We are looking to recruit a friendly and motivated candidate to join the Highways Service as it continues to grow and develop. We are looking for someone who can ensure all work activities are carried out with a focus on improvement, attention to detail and meeting of timescales.

In this role you will contribute to the development, support, maintenance and updating of the various highway policies and service procedures, including compliance in their application.

You will manage the Highways online workspace and document library ensuring documents are current, updated within given timescales and accessible across the service.

The role will require you to participate in the development of new quality management standards and checklists including undertaking audit evaluations to confirm compliance with the quality standards.

You will assist with planning and organising the team’s work and projects, ensuring these are delivered within the given timescales and budgets. Working closely with the Asset Lead and Technical Advisor’s, you will monitor and report on the progress of these projects.

This post will function within the Highways and Asset Management team and primarily work from Carlisle however work location can be discussed at interview.

We are looking for a strong communicator, who can take part in effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders, and who can work effectively and coordinate working with colleagues operating across the Highways service.

You will have strong organisational, planning and administration skills, can work well as part of a team, but also have the ability to work with minimum supervision.
