Marketing & Business Development Manager – Intellectual Property

Our client is recruiting a dynamic individual to join their International Intellectual Property Practice Group (IP), working alongside and reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager to drive forward MBD activities.

The Role: You will support the development and implementation of international MBD plans for their International IP Group. Key responsibilities include:

  • Revenue Generation: Translating insights and ideas into business growth.
  • Bid Management: Managing highly competitive bids and tenders, working collaboratively with fee earners and the wider MBD team to create winning propositions.
  • Strategy Development: Developing and implementing BD strategy for the group alongside the international IP group heads.
  • Cross-Selling: Facilitating cross-selling opportunities with other practice/sector/country teams.
  • Client Relationships: Promoting relationships with third-party organizations/partners, monitoring return on investment, and maximizing opportunities for client development and revenue generation.
  • Campaign Management: Developing and managing associated campaigns and targeting initiatives.
  • Content Creation: Drafting BD content for multiple platforms and maximizing outcomes from BD initiatives, including social media and PR opportunities.
  • Event Preparation: Leading on event preparation, ensuring value is derived and recorded.
  • Directory Submissions: Planning and executing a strategy to promote the practices in relevant directory, deal table, and awards submissions.
  • Infrastructure Management: Developing and maintaining key MBD-related infrastructure, including deal & credentials databases, pitching templates, CRM, intranet, microsites, and web pages.
  • Marketing Materials: Producing excellent and up-to-date marketing materials and helping develop content for specific projects.

About You: We are looking for someone who is curious, loves solving problems, and is driven to achieve and improve. You should be able to build long-lasting and effective relationships easily and be ready to roll up your sleeves and get on board when it counts.

Technical Skills:

  • Previous experience in a law firm and dealing directly with partners and key stakeholders is helpful.
  • Strong commercial awareness and interest in key legal and commercial issues affecting practice/sector groups.
  • Exposure to the full spectrum of MBD activities, specifically business development and events experience.
  • Strong writing skills, editing ability, and proficiency in MS applications including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with platforms like InDesign/Salesforce is a bonus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of social media\’s benefits and application.
