Overview At Pickles Recruitment, we re proud to be supporting a compassionate and professional funeral provider in Oldham who is looking for two full-time Funeral Directors to join their dedicated team. This is more than just a job it s a chance to bring comfort and calm during people s most difficult moments.
The Role As Funeral Director, you ll be the person families lean on coordinating everything with dignity and warmth while making sure every detail is handled with respect.
Your Responsibilities – Leading and overseeing funeral services with professionalism and care
– Supporting bereaved families with sensitivity and guidance
– Liaising with clergy, cemeteries, crematoriums, hospitals, and registrars
– Conveying the deceased from the place of death to the chapel of rest
– Preparing the deceased for viewing and ensuring their dignity is upheld
– Preparing coffins, engraving nameplates, and ensuring presentation is immaculate
– Driving the hearse, limousines, and other funeral vehicles
– Participating in an out-of-hours rota (evenings, nights, weekends)
– Completing admin tasks and mucking in as part of a small, hardworking team
Working Hours – Monday to Friday: 8:30am 5:30pm
– Occasional Saturdays: 9:00am 1:00pm
– On-call rota: Evenings, nights, weekends (shared fairly within the team)
What You ll Need – Experience in the funeral industry is ideal, but not essential for the right person
– A Full UK Driving Licence is required
– Genuine compassion and the ability to manage sensitive situations
– Good level of physical fitness this is a very active role
– Strong organisation, timekeeping, and attention to detail
– Calm, professional, and flexible attitude we re a small team and everyone mucks in
