Job Purpose:
The LNG Specialist is responsible for overseeing the operation of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Jetty, ensuring its smooth functioning in line with industry standards and internal safety protocols. This role includes conducting maintenance and inspection activities, ensuring operational safety and efficiency. Additionally, the LNG Specialist will represent the company during Ship-to-Ship (STS) Cargo Transfer Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the LNG Jetty and Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) for any safety concerns, environmental risks, or unsafe conditions, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
- Support the Terminal Lead in organising and coordinating emergency drills, safety audits, and follow-up actions in collaboration with the FSRU and Port Authority.
- Act as the Issuing Authority within the Control of Work system, managing all activities on the LNG Jetty in accordance with the Permit system and access control system.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Department, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and other service providers to ensure the smooth scheduling and execution of maintenance activities as per procedures.
- Operate key Jetty equipment, including loading arms, cranes, gangways, and emergency diesel generators as required for maintaining operational efficiency.
- Manage the LNG Jetty’s spare parts inventory onboard the FSRU, track the usage and storage of lab sample bottles for cargo shipments, and coordinate with laboratories as necessary.
- Oversee Ship-to-Ship (STS) operations, ensuring LNGC arrival temperatures and pressures meet terminal regulations, and verify that discharge quantities align with commercial instructions.
- Assist the Terminal Lead in maintaining communication with relevant stakeholders, including coordination of the 90-day schedule, surveyor coordination, cargo discharge instructions, and necessary documentation for LNGC arrival.
- Attend pre- and post-cargo discharge meetings aboard visiting LNGCs, working with surveyors to ensure accuracy in the cargo transfer report.
- Prepare monthly mass balance reports for LNG inventory management, ensuring consistency and accuracy in reporting.
- Review and analyse daily FSRU operation reports, monitor fuel consumption, and report any anomalies or concerns to the LNG Terminal Lead.
- Collaborate with the LNG Terminal Lead to review and update operating procedures and develop new procedures to improve the LNG jetty’s operational effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Minimum Engineering Degree or Marine-based qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in LNG Terminal/FSRU or similar facilities
- Level-2 crane operator competency
- Strong understanding of marine equipment such as fenders, mooring systems, and navigation buoys
- Proven ability to operate Marine Loading Arms
