We are looking for a Construction Manager to join our Buildings team in Cambridge on a major commercial development. This landmark development in the heart of Cambridge requires a skilled professional who can lead and manage construction activities to ensure successful project delivery.

What you\’ll do:

  • Promote the site safety culture, ensure all works are carried out in a planned, controlled and safe manner in accordance with statutory regulations, current standards and company health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Manage the trade contractors including the production of works to drawings and specifications and to manage performance on site.
  • Oversee subcontractors, labour and material requirements for the contract and support Project Managers with matters primarily relating to on and off-site activities.
  • Undertake all parts of Production Control / Collaborative Planning for the areas and packages that you manage including chairing weekly collab planning sessions for the packages / areas of works which you are responsible for.
  • Solve site problems when they occur, providing feedback to Project Managers on any defects or defaults found and put forward any innovative ideas to alter current methodology.
  • Lead the CDP design process for the packages that you are responsible for working closely with the design manager, and design team, within cost restraints, to facilitate the design, and coordination of production information, to suit site requirements and conditions.
  • Ensure good record keeping is maintained, including letters, emails, notices, drawings, site records, and computer data. Ensure daily diaries are completed and that progress reports are communicated on a regular basis to the senior management.

What you\’ll bring to the role:

  • Suitable experience as a Construction Manager on similar size, and type, projects for a tier 1 main contractor preferred.
  • Construction related qualification to HNC level or equivalent
  • Have significant site based experience and ideally management of people.
  • Be in possession of a current Managers CSCS card and other relevant qualifications including SMSTS & First Aider Qualified (preferred)
  • Member, or working towards membership, of a professional institution (MCIOB/ICE highly desirable)
