About the role
What you need to know:
- To actively support the Personal Accident Claims function in attaining its objectives through the proactive assessment and management of genuine claims with the agreed settlement authority limit.
- Contribute to the department achieving its overall objectives through ensuring delivery of a customer focused service whilst operating within a legal regulatory framework.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Handle and investigate all complex claims that have been allocated in accordance with agreed internal service levels, best practice requirements and against policy conditions.
- Develop and maintain technical and soft skills to enable accurate assessment and reserving of complex claims in accordance with specific best guidelines and specified authority limit.
- Promote compliance with best practice for all aspects of claims assessment within personal accident adhering to the specific procedures and processes that are applicable to Corporate and Direct policies.
- Actively promote and demonstrate the principles of Treating Customers Fairly in claims handling. Reinforce the FCA and internal Complaints procedures and the application in dealing with disputed claims.
- Proactively identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims using the key fraud indicators.

- Previous Accident & Health or Personal Accident claims experience
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
- A basic knowledge of legal/regulatory and litigation procedural requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Time management – ability to handle multiple priorities, organize work and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and the ability to problem solve
- Strong customer service and negotiating skills
