We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Graduate by Hilton in Cambridge as a Hotel Sales Manager.

The 148-bedroom Graduate by Hilton Cambridge hotel is part of the Graduate by Hilton collection inspired by the prestigious University of Cambridge and its surrounding town. Set right on the River Cam, in the heart of Cambridge\’s historic centre. The hotel feels like an extension of the university, with nods to college architecture.

THE ROLE

As the Hotel Sales Manager, you will proactively source new business for the hotel, develop relationships with agents and direct clients to keep the hotel a leader in the marketplace by following up on all sales leads, identifying opportunities, and conducting hotel presentations and site visits. The role involves regular travel to meet clients, attend trade shows, and represent the hotel at industry events.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local & national businesses and develop relationships to drive business in all segments (MICE, group, corporate, and transient).
  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy that encompasses all areas of the business and capitalizes on available opportunities.
  3. Responsible for the development and execution of the hotel sales plan, including direct sales calls, telesales, research, appointment making, promotional campaigns, corporate entertaining, networking, social events, client visits, and contract negotiation.
  4. Drive and coordinate sales activities to maximize revenue from existing accounts at the hotel on a national and international level.
  5. Identify and develop new accounts from the corporate markets.
  6. Explore new business areas through market development into new territories and segments, with measurable targets.
  7. Ensure accurate processing, documentation, and follow-up of all sales correspondence, including contracts, quotations, confirmations, and cancellations.
  8. Regularly meet with the hotel General Manager and Director of Sales to discuss customer feedback, sales data, competitor insights, pricing strategies, and other factors affecting the business.
  9. Participate in trade shows and industry events.
  10. Host client familiarization trips and conduct hotel show rounds.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Delphi, Salesforce, and OnQ Systems.
  • Proven proactive sales experience in a hotel environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Confidence in engaging with new people and presenting to large groups.
  • Strong understanding of revenue management principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of key business segments: Corporate, MICE, Group, Leisure, and Consortia.
