We are seeking a proactive leader to oversee our engineering team across 2 sites based in Dudley and Bury St Edmonds to ensure the seamless operation of our equipment and facilities.
About the Role: As our Maintenance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring maximum effectiveness and utilisation of our plant and engineering resources.
You will take a proactive approach to preventing equipment failures through robust PPM systems, ensuring that maintenance is planned, prioritised, and executed effectively. Your ability to implement and manage PPM systems will be critical to achieving our quality, waste, and efficiency targets.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will coordinate and support a team of Maintenance Engineers, prioritising their tasks and ensuring all Health & Safety procedures are followed.
You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain smooth operations, resolve mechanical and electrical issues, and uphold compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- PPM Management: Oversee and enhance Planned Preventative Maintenance systems, ensuring all work orders and schedules are completed on time.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and support the engineering team, maximising their effectiveness and ensuring efficient task allocation.
- Systems Utilisation: Manage computerised maintenance systems to monitor and track maintenance activities, ensuring KPIs are met.
- Collaboration: Work with other departments to prioritise maintenance activities and resolve issues that impact production.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and implement best practices across the site.
- Breakdown Response: Lead teams to resolve mechanical and electrical breakdowns promptly while focusing on reducing reactive maintenance.
- Reporting and Compliance: Provide detailed reports for significant downtime incidents, track work orders, and oversee contractor activities on-site.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and address potential issues before they escalate, driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in managing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) systems is essential.
- Experience with computerised maintenance systems (e.g. CMMS, SAP, or similar).
- Strong ability to forward plan, schedule, and manage maintenance activities efficiently.
- Level 3 qualification or time-served apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Experience in automated or manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent data and analytical skills for troubleshooting and reporting.
- Knowledge of legal compliance and Health & Safety requirements.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on team development.
