Hailsham Swimming Club, based in East Sussex, is looking for a passionate and inspiring Head/Lead Coach to start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the full swimming programme.

We are a friendly and ambitious club, and we have swimmers of all abilities, and many compete at county and regional levels on a regular basis. We are SwimMark-accredited. We have just been promoted to Division 1 in the Sussex League.

This is an amazing opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Club and support our swimmers in their swimming journey.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate is someone with enthusiasm and passion for developing our swimmers so that they can reach their full potential.

You must be a team player, driven and knowledgeable in competitive swimming.

You must have the ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, coaches, parents and the Committee.

Key Requirements:

  • Essential: Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award
  • Desirable: Swim England Senior Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 3 Coaching Award
  • Have a clean full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience working with competitive swimmers
  • Have strong technical skills
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Able to attend galas as and when required, including county, regional and national levels, as well as the Sussex League and Arena League

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead with group criteria and training plans
  • Lead and provide guidance to a small team of coaches
  • Coach the competitive squad in the Club, but also have the flexibility to cover other squad sessions as and when required
  • Provide effective session plans for different age groups and skill levels
  • Provide clear instructions and feedback to swimmers
  • Monitor the development of swimmers
  • Motivate swimmers to reach their full potential
  • Adhere to pool safety and safeguarding regulations and the Club’s code of conduct
  • Ensure compliance with Swim England policies, including Wavepower and Code of Ethics
  • Able to communicate with swimmers, coaches, parents and the Committee in a professional manner
  • Able to successfully engage with swimmers of varying abilities and aspirations.
  • Oversee the selection and preparation of swimmers for competitions at all levels

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
