Our client, a fast growing freight forwarder is looking to hire an Import Specialist to be based out of their office in Chelmsford, Essex.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the import process from start to finish via road, ocean, and air
- Handle all aspects of cargo dispatch and arrival, ensuring compliance by gathering and processing the necessary documentation
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing timely updates throughout key stages of their shipment\’s journey
- Liaise with customs specialists to facilitate smooth clearance processes and generate accurate duty and VAT invoices in line with cargo requirements
- Negotiate transportation costs with haulage providers and arrange final delivery of goods in a timely and cost-efficient manner
- Input booking information into logistics systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of shipment records and supporting files
- Create and issue financial documents including customer invoices and internal cost breakdowns for reporting and reconciliation
- Follow up on outstanding supplier invoices and resolve any billing discrepancies or queries
Requirements:
- At least 1 years Freight Forwarding experience, multi-modal preferred
- Some import and deep sea experience is essential
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Strong IT skills, ideally with some freight forwarding software experience
