Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks Permanent Full-Time Salary – Circa £50,000 DOE Location – Office Based in Luton We\’re excited to be supporting a leading manufacturer of innovative bespoke equipment, who has been at the forefront of lamination technology for almost half a century. They offer flexible solutions across a range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical, and technical textiles. With thousands of installations worldwide, they are committed to delivering high-quality, reliable machinery that enhances productivity and meets diverse client needs. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer proficient in SolidWorks or similar software, to design and develop bespoke machinery from concept to production, with a focus on 3D modelling, sheet metal, and automation. Responsibilities, but are not limited to Design bespoke mechanical solutions from initial concept through to detailed engineering drawings, ensuring all requirements are met for functionality, safety, and client specifications Create accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor), with emphasis on sheet metal, fabrications, and automation systems Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure high-quality design output and clear communication Analyse designs for functionality, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency Research and integrate new materials, components, and emerging technologies to enhance machine performanceExperiences required Proficient in 3D model creation using SolidWorks or similar (e.g. Solid Edge, Inventor, Creo, CATIA, Fusion 360, Onshape) Experience designing bespoke special-purpose machinery, including assemblies and sub-assemblies Understanding of electrical and pneumatic control systems in a mechanical design context Ability to produce detailed technical drawing packs for manufacture (DFM)Package 37.5 Hours P/W | Monday to Friday | Flexible Hours | 28 Days Holiday Inc.
