Are you a recent graduate (or soon to be) looking to build a strong foundation in finance? At Holland & Barrett, we\’re offering a rare opportunity to join our Tax team as a Tax Analyst gaining hands-on experience in a specialist area that\’s critical to every business.

This role will give you exposure to the core elements of a tax function from compliance and reporting to supporting wider projects, all while developing a highly valuable and transferable skill set. It\’s an ideal route into tax or a great opportunity to build specialist knowledge that will serve you well in any future finance role.

The Role

The Purpose Of The Role

You will support the VAT manager in ensuring accurate and timely indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. You\’ll also contribute to improving tax processes, reporting, and data analysis, while gaining exposure to a wide range of taxes in an international setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning: Focus on short- to medium-term tax compliance, reporting deadlines, and process improvements.
  • Decision Making: Operate under guidance but exercise your judgment in data review and investigations.
  • Financial Accountability: Support compliance impacting tax liabilities and financial reporting.
  • Impact of Role: Your work directly affects the accuracy and efficiency of tax compliance and reporting.
  • Indirect Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT and other indirect tax returns (200+ annually), including OSS, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat returns, and ad hoc returns.
  • Data Analysis & Review: Extract, manipulate, and validate financial data.
  • Process & Controls: Assist in export VAT evidence processes, maintain control over tax-related balance sheet accounts, and manage the tax compliance calendar.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Accounts Payable and other functions to enhance compliance through process improvement.

Location: Nuneaton, CV10 7RH, with Hybrid Working (minimum 2 days per week in Nuneaton)

The Person

Essential Key Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of finance and accounting concepts.
  • Strong Excel/data handling skills, including complex formulas.
  • Degree or studying qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Desirable:

  • Exposure to VAT or indirect tax rules in the UK or EU.
  • Understanding of ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
