The housekeeping and domestic team at Moseley Hall Hospital is looking to recruit 3 domestic assistants to provide a high standard cleaning service across the Moseley Hall Hospital site.
The roles available are as follows:
- Full time role 37.5 hours a week working 5 days across a 7 day week
- Part time role 31.5 hours a week working working 4 days one week and 5 days one week across a 2 week 7 day week rotational rota.
- Part time role 20 hours a week working 4 evening shifts a week across a 7 day week.

The cleaning operative will enhance the patient’s experience by ensuring that the clinical environment is clean, well presented and maintained to enhance the patient’s sense of comfort, safety and well-being.
Main duties of the job

- Cleaning medical/hard equipment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the Cleaning service.
- Undertake scheduled cleaning tasks, including the cleaning of clinical equipment, as per schedules.
- Uphold all Infection Prevention and Control measures as required within the Trust.
- Ensuring that all domestic consumables are available at all times in the appropriate dispenser/holder.
- Undertake ad-hoc cleaning tasks as required by the Senior Housekeeper and/or clinical staff.
- Ensuring Health & Safety in the workplace Legislation is adhered to.
- Report the need for any estates maintenance requests to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Identify areas for continuous improvement and liaising with the Housekeeping Supervisor to develop those improvements
Person specification
Qualifications and Training
- Good basic education Ability to read and write and numerical skills.
- NVQ Level 2 British Institute of Cleaning Science in Domestic Services or equivalent and a willingness to undertake within 6 months of employment.
Experience
- Experience of using electrical machinery. e.g.. Rotary machines, Steam cleaners
- Relevant experience of working within a healthcare setting.
Skills and Knowledge
- Full understanding and knowledge of cleaning schedules and frequencies.
- Good knowledge of COSSH, Health & safety in the workplace and. Safe Systems of Working.
Personal Qualities
- Good communication skills to engage with a variety of people.
- Flexible in working practices and hours.
- Ability to be able to follow clear instructions.
- Ability to show empathy and understanding of patient’s needs.
- Good understanding of policies and procedures.
- To be proactive in ensuring effective relationships are maintained.
- To work well and effectively in a team or alone.

DBS Costs
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3-month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check (as detailed above) will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. No payment will be made for your online training until it is all complete and verified by the Temporary Staffing Team. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
