An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced secretary or administrator to join the team our team as a part time Medical Secretary. Please note that due to the operational needs of our service the postholder will be required to work these hours over a minimum of three days, to include a Monday, Wednesday and Friday PM (until 5pm).
Based within the Centre for Women’s Health on the main Royal Devon and Exeter Wonford site, the post holder will join an established team to provide comprehensive administration support for our patients and clinical team of Consultant Gynaecologist/Obstetricians.
The post holder will have a range of administrative experience, ideally in a secretarial role or within a Healthcare environment; however, we welcome applicants from other sectors who feel they have relevant transferable skills.
Working in a busy and sometimes demanding job, within a supportive team, they must be a good team player and enjoy working within a Multidisciplinary team. We are looking for someone who is articulate, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise competing workstreams. Strong organisational skills and IT skills as well as the ability to manage your own caseload without direct supervision is a must.
As the post deals with patients, relatives, and Healthcare professionals, applicants must have excellent communication skills and will be expected to have an empathetic and efficient telephone manner.
Working Pattern: 18.75 hours per week to be worked over 3 or more days to include a Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 5pm finish required.

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, inclusive of a 3.6% pay award which will be implemented later this year. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2024/5 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2024/25 | NHS Employers )
