The Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer (EC&I) at our Bolton, Greater Manchester site is responsible for technical leadership and lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects on the plant to ensure a safe and reliable operation at optimum maintenance cost.

In this role you will implement maintenance strategies for all equipment and systems, ensuring all planned maintenance tasks are correctly specified and critical spares are available to allow the maintenance team to effectively complete tasks.

You will act as the site lead for all engineering Root Cause Analyses and implementation of recommendations to prevent reoccurrences, manage KPI’s, compile reliability status monthly reports, analyze trends and develop improvement projects to address the issues of concern, make continuous improvement a way of life.

This role is ideal for someone with relevant qualifications and experience from a similar manufacturing environment looking for a new opportunity to grow and develop within an international company supporting a top tier Comah site.

He or she will provide cover and support for the site electrical maintenance team as and when required.

  • Performs GAP-analysis and leads the Reliability Excellence (Rx) program implementation for E,C &I related projects.
  • Performs Asset Criticality analysis
  • Develops and implement best practice maintenance strategies.
  • Develops and implement reliability programs, procedures and guidelines, such as the Rx-matrix.
  • Assists with development of predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Performs analysis of maintenance and production data to initiate and support Rx related improvement projects.
  • Performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for failures of critical assets. Lead RCA when necessary and participate into incident RCA when maintenance or Rx input is required.
  • Determines Critical Spares and performs Min-Max calculations.
  • Collaborates with Regional Reliability Excellence team to improve Reliability Excellence program
  • Participates in the Regional community of practice to leverage knowledge and share best practices.
  • Leads training sessions on E,C&I Engineering and Materials management principles.
  • Provides cover and support to the site maintenance electrical teams as and when required.

Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Has a working knowledge of CMMSs and provide first call response to issues from users.
  • Provides input and lead the implementation, enhancement and upgrade of CMMS as needed.
  • Provides hands-on training on CMMS for new users.
  • Keeps up to date with the latest technologies.

Project Management

  • Leads E,C &I continuous improvement projects on site. This role includes the use of structured problem solving and project management methodologies. He or she will lead project teams to ensure the successful completion of team objectives. He or she will lead a project team to continuously improve the Reliability Excellence program and CMMS system to meet Sherwin-Williams’s needs. Prioritize multiple projects, budgets, and timelines.
  • May attend outside contractor bid walk meetings at the beginning of equipment installation in the field and through project implementation to gain process knowledge.
  • Provides E,C&I Engineering related design input as a member of the project team for smaller capital and continuous improvement projects.
  • Participates in design review process for capital projects.
  • Leads, support or review maintenance plans creation for new equipment.
  • Participates in new process or facility commissioning and start-ups.
  • Develops effective working relationships with peers and management on-site and Regional Reliability Excellence Team.
  • Provides input to the team on purchases of process, packaging, and/or material handling equipment based upon experiences.
  • Participates in the Factory Acceptance Testing process, when requested at vendor facility
  • Provides input for selecting and qualifying equipment vendors and contractors to minimize faulty construction, time delays, and lawsuits.
  • Development of Systems, Tools and Processes
  • Learn and retain tools needed to have a positive effect on plant safety, operating costs, quality, service and personnel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related field
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering master’s degree
  • 3-4 Years’ experience in E,C & I Engineering field.
  • Good interpersonal skills, project management knowledge, organization skills, leadership skills, decision making ability, relationship building.
  • Is proficient to communicate in English (read/speak).
  • Experienced with reliability tools and methodologies, such as: Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Statistical Analysis, Condition Monitoring, Asset Criticality analysis and benchmarking.
  • Experienced with spare part management, critical spares, and Min-Max level calculations.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with or at a manufacturing facility in the coating and painting industry
  • Experience working with Maintenance departments
  • Knowledge of Reliability Excellence program or Manufacturing Excellence program.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, such as mills, tapping and labelling machines.
