The predicted salary is between 30000 - 44000 £ per year.
Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations – Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.
Due to the location and scale of our projects, there is a requirement for the APM to be on site weekly for 2-3 days overseeing both construction and safety, health, welfare and environment requirements of the project.
Salary: £35,200 – £52,800 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We are looking for Assistant Project Managers to join our SSEN Transmission Delivery Team to deliver our High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects within our Pathway to 2030 Programme. Reporting into the Project Manager, you will be part of the Project Management team for the delivery of a civils and/or building package of works in relation to one of our onshore Converter stations. This will include working within a multi-disciplinary project team and framework supply chain partners under the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to grow into a Project Manager role by participating in the full project lifecycle.
You will
– Work alongside the Project Manager to coordinate project activities, keeping stakeholder expectations and SSE leadership values at the forefront.
– Monitor contractor progress and ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment & Wellbeing standards, championing SSEs Golden Rules.
– Support scheduling, budget and cost tracking to ensure projects remain on programme and within budget.
– Interface with contractors, design teams and internal/external stakeholders.
– Manage project documentation including RFIs, change events and submittals.
– Knowledge and understanding of construction practices. Prior delivery of AC substations, HVDC Stations or high-performance buildings, preferred but not essential.
– Knowledge and understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
– Strong communication skills both written and verbally along with capability to represent SHE Transmission with outside organisations.
– NEC 3 contract administration awareness.
