We are looking for two Assistant Information Managers to join the Information and Records Management Service (IRMS). 1 post is permanent and 1 is fixed term until April 2026 (with a possibility of extension or permanency).

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can work on their own initiative, manage competing priorities and engage confidently to help deliver high quality information management services and advice to colleagues across the organisation.

The position is a good opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in the information management sector. It would suit someone with strong organisational and communication skills who enjoys learning new digital systems and is looking to develop their understanding of information management concepts and apply this practically. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

On a typical day in this role you might be:

  • Answering emails and picking up phone calls from staff on a variety of information management topics.
  • Helping staff troubleshoot access permissions on their SharePoint site.
  • Running reports in SharePoint to identify information which is due for deletion.
  • Assessing digital or hard copy files for historical value.
  • Inducting a new local information management champion on their role.
  • Supporting delivery of an information management training session.

You\’ll also be able to explore your professional interests and get involved in the team\’s wider projects, which might include developing a new piece of guidance, drafting communications to raise awareness on a specific topic, or exploring how we can harness functionality in Microsoft 365 to implement good information management practice.

  • An awareness of information management principles and legislation, with excellent all-round digital skills and the ability to grasp technological procedures and processes rapidly.
  • Problem solving skills with close attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service skills including delivering difficult responses diplomatically when necessary and an ability to work collaboratively and inclusively to maintain an environment of trust and respect with colleagues and customers.
