The predicted salary is between 40000 - 70000 £ per year.

Summary:

We are looking for a Sustainable Strategy Lead to ensure South East Water\’s practices for sustainable water abstraction are followed.

This includes implementing strategies for abstraction and environmental considerations in water supply and demand planning.

You will also contribute to future Water Resource Management Plans and Water Industry National Environment Plans, including data collection and flow monitoring.

A key part of the role is building relationships with other water companies and regulators to ensure a consistent industry approach.

Main responsibilities:

  • Developing and delivering Sustainable Abstraction strategy plans for South East Water, development of future WINEP/environmental element of business plan.

  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking operation of sources at risk from future licence capping scenarios and working with production/ops and assets to ensure sources are operated to methodology to reduce future risk of licence capping.

  • Developing innovative and problem solving strategies for eco-hydrological baseline monitoring and modelling to measure the resilience of catchments we abstract within.

  • Environmental Destination strategies to be forward thinking to address likely future supply / demand scenarios before they arise.

  • Sound decision making skills based on evidence and understanding of evidence collected and modelled.

  • Write and coordinate technical reports, communication documents to a high standard to meet robust internal and regulatory deadlines.

  • As required, check, review and signoff for RSA studies, prepared by others.

You\’ll need:
Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Technically qualified water resource or environmental specialist (with a degree, HND or equivalent work related experience) with demonstrable experience.

  • Strong communication and influential skills and the ability to work alongside multiple departments and regulators. Proven ability to communicate complex, scientific findings in a simple and easy to follow manner.

  • Working knowledge of groundwater models – both MODFLOW and Eco-hydrology models.

  • Excellent data interpretation skills, reflecting the need to use the data to inform and influence stakeholders.

  • Proficient with the use of GIS and spatial data analysis tools.

  • Full, clean driving licence and ability to travel across Company region/areas as required

  • Several years experience of working in water resources / water industry / environmental regulation

It will be a bonus if you have:
Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree ideally in a scientific discipline or relevant work related area

  • Professionally Chartered in a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Knowledge of National/Regional Environmental Destination and South East Water’s Environmental Destination.

  • Working knowledge of planning applications and legislation.

  • Ability to work with uncertainty and plan adaptively as a self-starter.

  • Specialism in one of the following: hydrogeology, hydrology, hydro-ecology, water industry water resource planning.

  • Experience of ecological monitoring, catchment monitoring and supervision of works on site
