The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
The post is for a Band 6 Nurse when fully trained. If the applicant doesn’t meet all essential criteria, it will be a Band 5 training position until competencies are completed, including OTE and BASHH.
To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for clients accessing Sexual Health Services. This includes the assessment and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and the care of patients affected or infected by HIV. The role also involves informing and advising individuals on contraception methods, including LARC, and providing up-to-date sexual health promotion.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-standard patient care as a Sexual Health Nurse Specialist.
- Supporting, assisting, and advising patients to promote sexual health.
- Working autonomously at a specialist nurse level within current guidelines and best practices.
- Managing personal well-being and time to ensure optimal performance.
- Assessing, examining, and undertaking investigations such as microscopy and phlebotomy, managing and treating STIs within expanded practice areas, following Patient Group Directives.
- Providing risk assessments for high-risk individuals, including testing and pre/post-test discussions for HIV.
- Performing partner notification to reduce infection rates.
- Promoting and performing insertion/removal of LARC methods like Implanon and IUD/IUS, with confidence and competence.
- Providing sexual health services to young people, applying Fraser guidelines, and adhering to safeguarding policies.
- Conducting cervical cytology screening and managing referrals for abnormal results to colposcopy.
