Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement data solutions: Lead the design, development, and optimisation of data pipelines, data models, and data architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability across the organization.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams: Work closely with data team members, technology teams, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with Good Energy’s objectives and strategy.
- Driving best practices: Champion best practices for data engineering, including coding standards, data quality, data security, and documentation, ensuring consistency and maintainability across projects.
- Team member support: Provide technical support and guidance to the data team, creating a collaborative, learning-driven environment that encourages team development.
- End-to-end ownership: Manage the lifecycle of data projects and pipelines, from design and delivery through to monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Data governance and compliance: Ensure data governance, privacy, and security are prioritized in the design and delivery of data initiatives.
- Documentation and knowledge sharing: Maintain documentation for data engineering projects, leading knowledge-sharing efforts within the team to support development and enhance team capabilities.
What you\’ll need to succeed
- Be the key decision maker on the right technology stack for cloud data processing for the business
- Able to demonstrate an ongoing passion to stay up to date with the latest ETL technologies
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and reliable data solutions on the Azure cloud platform.
- Architect data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory & Azure Databricks.
- Advanced SQL knowledge and a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques (e.g., star/snowflake schemas).
- Experience leading or mentoring team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with executives, product teams, and IT.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data solutions using tools like Azure DevOps.
- Wider Azure knowledge including SQL Servers, Event Hubs, Log Analytics, and Key Vaults.
- Familiarity with areas such as:
- Data Governance
- Data Science
- Data Architecture
- AI / Machine Learning
- Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate).
- Experience in the energy industry
