Overview
The Production Operator is a member of a shift operating team, working a 4 on, 6 off shift pattern, responsible for the continuous running of the film or polymer production lines at the highest possible outputs and efficiencies with minimum disruption and downtime.
Responsibilities
- Maintain efficient production essential for a quality operation, minimising expensive losses, and take prompt corrective actions whenever necessary.
- Cooperate with research and development for the advancement of new ideas/products.
- Work within a shift team responsible for continuous production across all assets.
- Assist shift tradesmen when breakdowns occur on running equipment to minimise equipment downtime.
- Monitor internal and external areas of the plant critical to the film making process.
- Carry out a complete unit start-up check and correct faults.
- Monitor operating parameters of equipment, maintain an accurate log of abnormalities, and report deviations/process interruptions.
- Conduct visual inspections and assessments of finished reels, record results in the plant quality system, and undertake online quality checks.
- Ensure the film produced meets quality specifications and take corrective actions when required.
- Diagnose faults using root-cause thinking, carry out checks/inspections, and present at performance reviews.
- Convert reject film into flake to maximise raw material efficiencies.
- Rectify process interruptions speedily and effectively to maximise line uptime.
- Identify faulty equipment operation and initiate repair through appropriate tradesmen or by raising engineering job orders.
- Undertake all work safely and in compliance with Plant rules, the Site Safety Policy, and participate in safety training programmes and safety audits.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards by keeping work areas and equipment clean and in good order.
Qualifications
- Preferable to have experience in film manufacturing or chemical manufacturing.
- Show evidence of transferable skills.
- Show dedication towards teamwork and have a team-oriented personality.
- Ability to learn to use databases, spreadsheets, shop floor systems, and other computer programmes used on the film line.
- Interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
