CNC Setter / Operator
Cirencester
£14 – £18 Per hour
Our well-established client based in Cirencester is seeking a skilled CNC Setter / Operator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dynamic and supportive manufacturing environment.
CNC Setter / Operator Roles and Responsibilities:
- Program CNC turning machines directly at the machine control panel
- Set up tooling and fixtures according to engineering setup sheets and operational procedures
- Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and maintain tight tolerances
- Operate CNC turning machines efficiently and safely to produce high-precision components
- Continuously monitor production for consistency, tool wear, and potential issues
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Obtain first-off inspection approval before beginning full production runs
- Ensure all manufactured parts meet engineering drawings and quality standards
- Accurately record operation times and production data using the shop floor data capture system
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures at all times
CNC Setter / Operator Ideal Candidate:
- ExperiencedCNC Programmer, Setter, and Operator
- Proficient in Mazatrol programming
- In depth knowledge of CNC turning processes, including tooling selection and machine setup
- Hands on experience with Mazak, Hardinge, and Star CNC machines
- Familiarity with sliding head (Swiss-type) lathes is highly advantageous
- Competent in reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
- Proficient in using precision inspection and measurement equipment
- Strong commitment to accuracy, quality standards, and continuous improvement
- Effective communicator with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or CNC Machining
- Additional training or certifications in CNC programming or machine operation preferred
- Previous experience working in a subcontract precision engineering environment is essential
