A specialist engineering firm is looking to recruit a Field Service Technician to join their growing service team. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with experience in the construction and/or water sectors (experience working with pumps is also highly desirable), though full training will be provided.
The position requires regular travel and staying away from home up to four nights a week, with accommodation fully covered, and you’ll receive a daily food allowance. While most work is based around the Wigan area, flexibility to travel across the UK is important. Full training is provided, including funded qualifications such as Confined Space Access, First Aid, Working at Height, and CSCS certification.
In return, you’ll earn competitive renumeration of c£12.21 per hour with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours a week and regular overtime available. There’s also a performance-related annual bonus, plus all travel expenses are taken care of. The benefits package includes 20 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with extra days earned after two years’ service. You’ll also get a company pension, access to fuel and credit cards, and enjoy a full Christmas shutdown.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain above and below ground water storage tanks
- Conduct remedial work such as pipework alterations, valve replacements, and minor pump maintenance
- Follow on-site safety procedures, including confined space entry and toolbox talks
- Complete client reports and internal documentation accurately and on time
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and departments to ensure a high level of service
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in the construction or water industry, or similar advantageous
- Valid CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points
- Willingness to travel and work away from home during the week
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic IT skills for completing reports and using client portals
- An enthusiastic, team-focused approach with the ability to work independently when needed
