Join CrossReach and Help People Change Their Lives

Are you passionate about supporting adults in their recovery from substance use issues? At CrossReach, we’ve been providing life-changing care and support across Scotland for over 150 years. Now, we\’re looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive Recovery Worker to join our dedicated team.

As a Recovery Worker, you\’ll play a vital role in supporting adults on their journey to recovery from problematic substance use. You’ll provide both practical and emotional support, working alongside individuals to build on their strengths, set personal goals, and develop strategies for long-term recovery. Whether it’s through one-to-one sessions, group work, or by liaising with other professionals, your contribution will be key in helping people regain control of their lives.

In this role, you’ll build trusting relationships with the people you support, taking time to understand their needs and aspirations. You’ll develop and implement personalised recovery plans, using therapeutic interventions, harm reduction strategies, and relapse prevention tools to support meaningful change. Collaboration will be central to your work, as you engage with families, carers, and partner agencies to ensure joined-up care. Keeping accurate records and contributing to the ongoing development of the service will also be part of your responsibilities.

We’re looking for someone who has experience working with individuals affected by substance use or within a similar care setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a non-judgmental and empathetic approach. A genuine desire to support recovery, combined with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required, is important. Ideally, you will hold an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or be willing to work towards this qualification.

We also offer you a range of benefits that you would expect from an organisation that support others.

Firstly, there is access to a wide range of exclusive retail and leisure discounts through our rewards scheme and the Blue Light Discount card. We also ensure that your future and that of your loved ones is secured with a generous contributory pension plan and death in service benefit. Balancing work and family are made easier with our suite of enhanced family friendly policies and your health and wellness are prioritised with access to our health cash plan, giving you cash back for a wide range of health treatments. We even have access to a care concierge service to assist you with life\’s challenges, providing invaluable support when you need it most.

But we also know that your training and development is important to you, and as well as a contribution to your professional membership fees, we are keen to support you in making the right steps to learn, grow and develop in ways that are right for you.
