Job Description
Full Time Gardener/Handyperson required for large private country Estate located in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
We are looking for someone reliable with previous experience working on an estate, who can assist the Head Gardener and the wider Estate team.
Accommodation can be available for the right person if required.
Key responsibilities:
Grass and hedge maintenance using large machinery, including tractor mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters etc
Spraying when required – PA1 and PA6 certificates essential
General gardening – weeding, pruning, cutting back, digging over, mulching etc
General home repairs and maintenance
Managing the Bio Mass boiler and fire wood preparation
Supporting the Housekeeper with inside tasks, such as laying the fires and helping with ongoing cleaning inside and outside the house
Driving the family members, running errands as required, and ensuring the fleet of cars are kept maintained, refuelled and cleaned.
Working within the wider small teams on the Estate, with the ability to communicate effectively and understand the importance of health and safety in the work place. Being able to maintain high standards and efficient operations, working both within a team environment, but also independently at times.
The Person:
Reliable, punctual, enthusiastic with a really good work ethic
Experienced with general gardening
Will have basic DIY skills to carry out minor household repairs
Happy working alone and within a team
Personable and a good team player
Car driver with full UK driving licence
Physically fit as some of the work can involve heavy lifting
A competitive salary will be offered to the successful person who can provide fully checkable references.
