SEN Residential Support Worker – Make a Difference in the Lives of Young People with Complex Needs

Vetro Recruitment is currently recruiting for a SEN Residential Support Worker to join a specialist service that supports young people with complex needs in our 3-4 bedroom residential homes. These homes provide a nurturing and safe environment, with a minimum staffing ratio of 1:1, ensuring each young person receives the tailored care and support they deserve.

Overview:

  • Title: SEN Residential Support Worker
  • Location: Preston
  • Shifts: Various shift patterns (sleeps nights)
  • Pay: £13.50 – £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)

The Role:

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting the daily lives of young people in our complex needs homes. You will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support, implementing personalised care plans, and ensuring that the young people are supported to engage in activities that help develop their independence, social skills, and overall well-being.

Our homes cater to a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and we create care plans that are unique to each individual, ensuring their specific needs are met. Some of our young people may present with anger management issues, absconding behaviours, and criminal behaviours, so your role will require a calm, patient, and proactive approach.

You will also work closely with our educational team at Vetro, helping ensure the young people\’s education and personal development are supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or 2:1 support to young people, including those with challenging behaviours
  • Assist with personal care and daily living activities
  • Implement and follow individualised care plans to meet the needs of each young person
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the young people at all times
  • Support young people to engage with their education at Vetro Regional School
  • Be flexible with shifts, including providing waking night support when required

The Candidate:

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a passion for working with young people with complex needs
  • Be patient, empathetic, and resilient in the face of challenging behaviours
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential
