Kilkenny House is a supported housing scheme based in Westcroft Milton Keynes. We have 40 flats which consists of single and double dwellings. We deliver 24-hour care making sure we deliver high quality care and support to individuals with a range of complex health conditions. To include end of life care.

With the encouragement of physical activity an important element of support programmes, job holders will require significant dexterity and co-ordination in assisting others with a range of exercises and activities. The need to simultaneously assist several clients will demand speed and precision in these tasks.

Job holders will be expected to spend a considerable proportion of their working time on their feet and/ or engaged in physical activities which can, on occasions, be considerably demanding such as assisting others to walk/move or shifting equipment.

Job holders will be required to maintain an awareness of the general surroundings and the movements/activities of those engaged within it, this will require periods of concentrated sensory perception. Job holders may, in addition, experience some work related pressure from dealing with the competing demands of service users.

As job holders work directly with vulnerable clients, there will be occasions where they will be exposed to more than standard office type working environments featuring noise, odours or even unpleasant or threatening behaviours.

The activities post is Monday to Friday 13:30 to 17:30 with some flexibility.

Main Responsibility

  • Provide a varied and stimulating programme of activities, either for groups or on a 121 basis, using resources creatively. Support tenants to be involved in the organisation and choice of events.
  • Establish links with internal and external partners to encourage sharing of facilities and resources.
  • Be aware of health and safety and ensure that tenant and activity risk assessments are followed. Ensure safe storage of equipment and materials.
  • Ensure clear records are kept of activities undertaken and establish a data base of resources.
  • To assist with the provision of care and support as required, following the tenants care plan.
  • At this level job holders work directly with vulnerable clients, assisting them with day-to-day activities and focusing on their personal development and wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting older adults and understanding individual needs.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
  • Creative, energetic, and able to deliver engaging activities.
  • Aware of risk and committed to safe working practices.
  • Physically fit for manual handling tasks.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance.
  • Professional, adaptable, and a positive team player.
  • Willing to complete mandatory training and undergo an Enhanced DBS check

For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle. Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.

Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
