Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking an organised and enthusiastic individual to join our South Lakeland team as an Assistant Traffic Management Technician. This is a key support role, helping to deliver a wide range of traffic and road safety schemes across South Lakeland.

As partof the team, you will assist with the preparation, design and processing of both temporary and permanent traffic schemes. This includes developing works packages for small-scale projects to improve road safety and reduce casualties, introduce parking schemes and other traffic management projects. You will also support the processing of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), contribute to data collection and analysis, and help with public and stakeholder engagement.

Who we are looking for…

This is a predominantly office-based role with some site visits required. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the Highways service and be involved in responding to enquiries, preparing reports, and issuing instructions to contractors. The role is public facing, so strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are essential.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, a team player, and has a flexible approach to work. Excellent customer service skills, and confidence using Microsoft Office and other computer systems are also important.
