Special Education Assistant (Resource) // Hill Field Elementary 5.9 hrs p/day // 9 months // Salary Grade 6 – $19.60 per hour (Support Salary Table 2025-2026). GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the general supervision of the special education teacher, the special education teacher assistant supports the implementation of student IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) by assisting the teacher in five areas of service: instructional support, management and supervision support, personal support, assessment support and materials management. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. High School diploma or equivalent education and/or experience. 2. District inservice training (required after hiring). 3. Basic knowledge of academic subjects. 4. Substitution or equivalent experience preferred. 5. The specific skills required of the assistant depend upon the assignment, the student\’s needs and IEP, and upon the established procedures of the supervising professional. 6. The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate\’s degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test will be required in the future.
