Our client, Scottish Power Renewables, is currently recruiting for an Offshore Environmental Advisor to join their team based in Lowestoft on a contract basis initially. They are looking for an experienced Environmental Advisor with a strong offshore background. For more information on this role, see below:

Main Purpose of Job

Provide Environmental Management Services to the EA Three Project.

The main purpose of this role is to act as SPR\’s Offshore Environmental Advisor for the EA Three offshore wind farm project, providing environmental support to the project team and environmental team.

The role is flexible, with tasks to be completed both in the project office and offshore.

This position involves developing and maintaining effective environmental management during the construction phase of the EA Three offshore site.

A significant part of the role involves engaging directly with suppliers and contractors involved in offshore works, focusing on environmental management.

Responsibilities include conducting checks on suppliers post-contract award (such as audits, inspections, review of site documentation, meetings, etc.), developing and communicating environmental awareness training, including site inductions (on and off site).

Key Tasks

  • Regular offshore visits for environmental inspections.
  • Liaising with and updating the project environmental team on offshore contractors, risks, and documentation.
  • Performing environmental inspections of vessels working on the project.
  • Engaging with EA Three offshore package leads to communicate environmental compliance requirements and standards.
  • Ensuring alignment with the HS team on health and safety standards and documentation.
  • Reviewing and updating offshore environmental management controls, including the offshore environmental plan.
  • Assessing contractors\’ pre-qualification and tender submissions regarding environmental management issues.
  • Preparing contractual documentation related to environmental management for various work packages.
  • Reviewing site documentation post-contract award to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Reviewing contractors\’ risk assessments, method statements, and environmental plans for approval.
  • Facilitating environmental meetings with contractors and representing environmental interests.
  • Collecting and reporting environmental incident and near-miss statistics from all contractors.
  • Leading or assisting with offshore environmental incident investigations.
  • Ensuring environmental incidents are reported to authorities as per protocols.
  • Supporting the project environmental manager with reporting requirements.

Key Criteria

  • Flexibility to travel; based in Lowestoft but required to visit various site locations, including offshore and in Europe.
