Female Support Worker – Caton, Lancaster – Pay: £13.66 per hour (flat rate) – Hours: 24‑hour contract – You must be available to work day and night shifts. Day shifts: Monday‑Friday 7:00‑20:00, Saturday‑Sunday 8:00‑20:00. Waking Night shifts: Sunday‑Thursday 20:00‑8:00, Friday‑Saturday 20:00‑9:00.
As a Support Worker, you will provide high‑quality, person‑centred care, supporting a young person with profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex health needs. They are non‑verbal and communicate using their eyes and facial expressions, so patience and observation skills are essential. They live with their mum and twin brother in Lancaster and spend alternate weeks at their dad’s home. They attend school Monday‑Friday, where you will support them. Outside of school they require 1:1 adult support to access activities of their choice with a 2:1 cross over in the mornings. They love music and enjoy listening to the radio or music on the TV, and they thrive when supported by calm, consistent, and compassionate people.
Support will include:
- PEG care, including nutrition, hydration, and medication administration
- Monitoring and recording vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturations)
- Seizure management, including administration of buccal medication
- Supporting CPAP use overnight
- Moving and handling
- Providing full personal care
- Supporting access to activities of their choice
- Supporting attendance at appointments
- Providing emotional and psychological support as required
- Working closely with family members and professionals to ensure continuity of care
Essential Requirements:
- Female support workers only (genuine occupational requirement)
- Must be a driver
- Must have excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Previous healthcare experience
- Compassionate, reliable, and committed to person‑centred care
- Comfortable working day and night shifts
- Able to work across two family homes
