Overview
30 hours per week. We are looking for enthusiastic and dependable people to join the Forensic Care group at Newton Lodge to work within a domestic and catering ward orderly team in a medium secure setting. The team provides a polite, professional, and efficient domestic and catering service for service users, staff and visitors. You will be required to work to and maintain the standards set by the NHS cleaning specifications. A full training package and induction are provided. Enthusiasm and dedication to provide a clean, safe environment are essential.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of domestic, catering, and general household duties within a ward environment for people with mental health problems.
- Assist and monitor patients in cleaning and tidying their own bedroom environment; liaise with ward staff on ward-based cleaning task allocation.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding service users, colleagues, and ward information; safeguard information as required.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living; support a therapeutic relationship and a clean, safe living space.
- Report anxieties or concerns to the nurse in charge and the domestic supervisor; keep ward and department clean to promote positive therapeutic interactions.
- Monitor dietary needs and advise patients on healthy eating; report any food items contravening policy to the nurse in charge.
- Ensure fair allocation of ward duties and manage budget to support patient tasks; complete payment authorisation forms as required.
- Receive and store all food in accordance with standards and policy; maintain records of food storage and regeneration.
- Prepare for meal times and requisition sundry items of food, cleaning materials, linen and equipment as authorised by the clinical leader.
- Store and launder linen; ensure sufficient stock to meet requirements; launder bed linen in accordance with policy.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: Level 2 Food Safety Certificate; basic literacy and numeric skills.
- Essential: Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post; satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years.
- Essential: Previous experience in a demanding work environment.
- Desirable: Experience in industrial cleaning and/or catering; experience in customer care or a patient-focused environment.
- Essential: Commitment to undertaking relevant training.
