We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join the team in our London/Newcastle offices. The successful candidate will work closely with business and technology teams across Wealth Management Europe (WME) to support the ongoing maintenance and evolution of the Data Lakehouse platform, focusing on the ingestion and modelling of new data, and the evolution of the platform itself utilizing new technologies to improve performance and accuracy of the data.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining the Data Lakehouse platform infrastructure using Microsoft Azure technologies like Databricks and Data Factory.
- Managing data pipelines from data sources to consumption, ensuring they are created, maintained, and optimized.
- Using SQL and PySpark to create and modify notebooks, functions, and workflows for reporting and analytics.
- Creating and maintaining Dev, UAT, and Production environments for consistency.
- Automating data preparation and integration tasks to improve productivity.
- Using version control tools like GitHub and data/schema comparison tools.
- Championing DevOps practices for data pipelines and ensuring proper documentation and review.
- Identifying and sourcing process improvements to automate manual tasks and optimize data delivery.
- Engaging with team and business stakeholders to foster relationships and develop thought leadership.
- Following Agile methodologies and collaborating in sprints and meetings.
- Applying data and domain knowledge to address new data requirements and proposing innovative techniques.
Requirements:
- At least two years of experience in data management disciplines such as data integration, modelling, and quality.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and supporting data initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Data Management architectures like Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Hub.
- Experience with large datasets and building data pipelines using traditional technologies.
- Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL.
- Knowledge of SQL on Hadoop and Azure tools like Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Databricks.
- Familiarity with agile, DevOps, and DataOps principles.
- Basic experience with data governance, security, and building prototypes into data products.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Terraform.
- Experience with analytics tools and programming languages like Python, Java, Scala, R.
