Teacher – English (Pathways to Further Learning and Work)

Leeds City College are looking for an English Teacher to join our Pathways to Further Learning and Work department.

Pathways to Further Learning and Work is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities, and opportunities to progress learners onto academic, vocational and technical study programmes for learners with EHC Plans and High Needs.

What You Will Do

  • Plan, prepare, and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning, assessment plans, and internal verification/moderation.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course, and be responsible for recording student progress
  • Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and/or vocational and educational research to develop evidence-based practice
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
  • Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.

About You

  • To hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE)
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or above and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above
  • Have experience delivering GCSE, Functional Skills and/ or RARPA
  • Experience of working with SEND students
  • Understanding of strategies to support and develop SEND students
  • Strong ability to develop effective relationships with students, parents and carers
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
