Position Overview

Fletchers Solicitors Ltd invites you to join our growing EL/PL team. The role involves assisting a Litigation Executive or Solicitor in all aspects of their cases, ensuring matters progress efficiently. You will work on a diverse caseload of employer’s and public liability matters under the guidance of a lead Litigation Executive or Solicitor.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Litigation Executive or Solicitor with cases to ensure timely progress.
  • Progress files in line with KPI targets.
  • Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third‑party solicitors/insurers, police and other relevant parties.
  • Handle all aspects of pre‑ and post‑issue procedures.
  • Draft statements of case, witness statements, application notices.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed file notes.
  • Research points of law on liability and quantum and take responsibility for research prior to tasks.
  • Assist with telephone negotiations and case‑management conferences.
  • Pursue cases to conclusion as directed.
  • Attend courts and conferences, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Prepare trial bundles.
  • Help prepare cost instruction sheets and disbursement lists.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong research and drafting skills.
  • Sound knowledge of serious injury and court procedure law.
  • Excellent attention to detail and file‑management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Analytical, decision‑making in a diverse environment.
  • IT competence.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Preferably prior experience in a personal injury department.
  • Flexible working hours and ability to travel.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • A law degree or Graduate Diploma in Law (or desire to gain legal qualifications via CILEX, paralegal apprenticeship or SQE routes).
  • Previous legal work experience.
  • Valid driving licence.
