Adult Psychiatry Consultant – Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Several locations

Shifts: 17/11/2025 – 31/12/2025 (rota)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Adult Psychiatrist to join our team. This role offers exceptional opportunities for therapeutic practice, research and academic advancement within a high‑quality NHS environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out new referral assessments, deliver therapy or refer to psychology colleagues for interventions, and follow up patients for medication reviews.
  • Formulate care and treatment plans, prescribe treatments and provide guidance on evidence‑based practice.
  • Support patients and their families by communicating clinical information and explaining treatment options.
  • Participate in shared decision‑making with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead or work within multidisciplinary teams when appropriate.
  • Prioritise patient needs, delegate effectively to others.
  • Recognise and report changes in patient condition to the MDT.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records, prescription logs and treatment documentation.
  • Teach and train junior doctors, medical students and MDT members.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) or equivalent.
  • Hold CCT or CESR at interview or in an established training programme within six months of CCT.
  • Inclusion on GMC Specialist Register or within six months of CCT/ CESR.
  • Minimum 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years.
  • Strong communication, teaching and team‑working skills.
  • Empathy, flexibility, proactive research and academic mindset.
