Applications are invited for the role of Operational Driver Training Instructor within Learning and Development at Essex Police College and training venues.
Learning and Development is dynamic, and this is a high-profile, challenging role. As an Operational Driving Instructor, you will enhance Driver Training delivery through practical application, contributing to a team delivering training to the wider force.
The successful candidate must uphold the high standards set by the College of Policing, ensuring training is provided in line with guidance. They must be organized, confident, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of debriefing course attendees effectively.
Attention to detail and high concentration levels are essential. Candidates should demonstrate current or previous Police Advanced driving experience and pass the Police Driver Trainers Programme. If not already qualified, passing the Training Essentials programme (TEP), a suitable assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA/TEP 5), and a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) qualification is required.
You will need to pass assessments to deliver Advanced Level Training and achieve competence at each stage, signed off by an Advanced Instructor.
Applicants should provide evidence of:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience supporting the development of others
- Ability to stay calm, professional, and make effective decisions
- Police Advanced Driving Authority
Desirable skills include:
- Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development (or higher)
- Qualified DVSA ADI
