Does establishing contacts and developing client relationships at the highest level appeal to you?
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join the team!
This is a hybrid role which provides the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Birmingham office.
Aon is in the business of better decisions
At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.
As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
What the day will look like
- Working closely with the branch management team, develop, monitor and grow a new business pipeline
- Grow a local business network, attending local events and conferences as required
- Develop an understanding and appreciation of prospect business objectives and requirements, including understanding their financial and business strategy
- Establish the potential needs and be able to articulate Aon\’s risk management solutions for those needs in a professional way, utilising Aon\’s sector knowledge, such that we become the logical alternative to the incumbent broker
- Using information for similar sector clients and knowledge of their business, establish Aon\’s revenue basis and a proposal intended to provide a profitable return using the full range of Aon services
- Work with Project Management and Broking to manage the new business process and ensure Aon deliver on our initial proposition – in addition, with overseas Aon offices where required
- Liaise with the Claims community to establish our Claims proposition for each new client
- Participation, and where required, leadership of service proposition proposals to prospects. The BDM is expected to play a significant role in the customisation and quality control of the proposition and accompanying materials using Corporate Project Management as necessary
- Developing good working relationships with Aon specialists, and specifically in Client Management and Client services, thereby selecting the most suitable team to be presented to the prospect
- Compliance with Aon Corporate\’s Business Rules and Statutory/FCA regulations
- Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests of reputation of any Group company
What Makes This Role Different
Typically, clients will be either a national or a multinational company, sometimes with a global presence; the CEO and CFO\’s will be looking for a local relationship with their broker, who can provide an Aon wide, tailored approach.
You will need to develop a strong Aon internal network to understand and articulate the many innovative solutions available.
Corporate clients typically require bespoke insurance programmes and associated risk management and risk transfer services. Besides being the insurance broker, the team provides clients with a claims service and advice on risk management across most industries, with specialisms in real estate, food and drink, retail, manufacturing and energy.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Sales and Insurance experience are essential – preferably in new business
- Professional style – ability to impact and impress in 1:1 prospect meetings
- General commercial awareness
- Results focused
- IT literate with experience using databases
